The Get In My Hood Polar Bear Appreciation Week has been a lot of fun! I've really enjoyed sharing information about polar bears with you and seeing how far that information has been spread each day! Thank you to all of you who have participated in this fun and informative week about polar bears! I hope that we have accomplished our goal of getting information out there about these wonderful and endangered animals. I also hope that this information has inspired people to think of ways in which they can help! Today I finished entering all the names of people who participated in the contest. I drew the name of the contest winner at random from that list... ... and the winner of the Polar Bear SpiritHood is M. Kollmesch!!! Congratulations! I hope to hold more contests in the future and I will continue to post at Get In My Hood about everything related to my love for SpiritHoods (and sometimes other random things that I love too!) Stay tuned for more information about the new 2012 Spring line of SpiritHoods coming soon! Thank you to all of you who have been celebrating the Get In My Hood Polar Bear Appreciation Week with me! Although I made up this excuse to celebrate polar bears all week long, I hope that you have learned as much as I have and have enjoyed sharing the daily facts. Since today is that last day of the contest, I wanted to do something a little bit different. Earlier this week, I shared the fact about scientists concluding that the threat to polar bears is ecological change in the Artic from global warming. Each day this week, I have been thinking about ways that I can better reduce my carbon foot print. One way I show my love for the planet and its creatures is by eating a mostly plant-based diet, and no meat at all. Did you know that it takes 441 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef? Also, cows produce anywhere from 100 to 520 quarts of methane gas daily! The meat industry is believed to be a large contributor to global warming. Today I ask you to leave a comment on this post telling me how you reduce your carbon foot print or how you plan to do so going forward. I will count your comment as an additional contest entry to win that polar bear SpiritHood that I know you'd love to have! If today is your first day celebrating Polar Bear Appreciation Week, check out this previous post to learn how you can help spread information about polar bears and enter the Get In My Hood contest to win a FREE Polar Bear SpiritHood! Here is a quick recap of the rules: * Each day after I post a new picture/video and fact about polar bears on Get In My Hood, I will be posting a short note with a link to the information on my Twitter Account (@GetInMyHood) and to my Facebook page, Get In My Hood - Share the SpiritHoods Love. * To enter the contest, either "retweet" the link from my Twitter account or "share" the link from my Facebook page or both to double your chances of winning! * Participate in the contest each day of the week to maximize your chances of winning! * Make sure that you either follow my Twitter account or "Like" my Facebook page for your entries to be counted! The contest winner will be selected tomorrow at random from the list of contest entries! Remember that when you buy a ProBlue SpiritHood, 10% of net proceeds are donated to help that animal. Buying a polar bear SpiritHood is another way that you can help polar bears! |
